To me competitive is any environment where people compete for money, fame, or power.

The term is more used in sports than in business, but I think it is exactly what it means. In business, I think you can define “competitive” as any environment where a person seeks to gain an advantage over others. In sports, it can mean any place where people compete to win something.

At its core, a competitive environment is about competition. I think this is especially true in business. There are so few things in life where competition is the only game in town. This is one of those things.

I think the question is really, “what does competitive mean?” Competitive means to be willing to take risks. If you want to win, you have to start taking risks. If you don’t want to take risks, you don’t want to be a winner. This is the idea of the competitive environment, and it’s a very important one.
